Memorial Biography

Today marks two years since my beloved Papa left us. And we want to take this day to remember his life, his relationships, his achievements, and his fellowship and faith. P Philip, was born on 26 Nov 1954 as the third child to Thangamma & Pappachan of Muttakullathu House, Cheppad. Papa was truly a self-made man. After completing with school education in Kerala, he moved to Madhya Pradesh for job and higher education. He had a brief stint with the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board at Korba and then joined Union Bank of India. And he found his life's passion in banking. He worked in various departments and in many different places like Reva, Bhopal, Trivandrum, Idukki, Munnar, Kuttichal , Allepey. In 2014 he retired from Union Bank as Chief Manager after 38 years of service. His enthusiasm for banking inspired him to continue working as a Financial Literacy Counselor, at outskirts of Trivandrum till the day he left us all. One could see his passion of banking through the hard work he put in, his enthusiasm relating to the events in the sector and his spirited conversations! He got married on June 18 , 1984 to Shobana Philip and was blessed with a daughter, Sherin Philip. He was a doting father and a supportive husband. Our Provider, Our Pillar of support and our all in all. He enriched our lives with so many cherished memories and experiences, memories which help us stay connected with him even today. Faith was a central part of Papa's life. Through all of life's trials and triumphs, one constant for Papa would be his morning conversation with his Almighty. He was an active member of the church at St. Peter Church, Bhopal (1978 - 1995) and then of St. Thomas Church, Trivandrum. He would pray to and praise His sounding laughter... Above everything else, that's what I like to remember him by. His excitement and concern for us, his family! - "Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them." - George Eliot
